2nd Line Support Engineer

2nd Line Support Engineer – £28,000/£35,000 per annum – Nottingham Principal IT are working with a global player in the Cyber Security sector that are looking for an IT 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their team. In this role you will play a vital part in supporting their future strategy. They are looking for someone who is passionate about continuous professional development and has an innovative approach to incorporating new technologies into their operations. As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will provide day to day support to customers on a variety of tailored, bespoke and in-house computer systems. This role encompasses 1st, 2nd line support with growth to 3rd Line, allowing you scope to provide truly end to end solutions. You will be required to work both as part of a team and independently, have an analytical brain and be able to communicate at all levels. Technical skills (Essential): – Understanding and experience of Windows computer and user management: Active Directory Users & Computers, Group Policy, Entra ID – Understanding and experience of Windows Operating Systems: Windows 10, 11, Server 2016 – 2025. – Understanding of Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP Routing, Firewalls, DNS, DHCP, Wireless Access Points, Switching & Routing Technical skills (Desirable): – Experience of using cyber security tools – Experience using SQL Databases Soft Skills: – Excellent communicator. – Presentation skills – must be confident and comfortable presenting and demonstrating our product to the customer in training sessions and on support calls. – Customer service skills. The Package: If successful our client is offering a salary between £28,000 – £35,000 per annum, favourable holiday allowance, a full training programme designed to support your personal development.
