We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled, and experienced Senior Science Technician to lead and support the practical and technical requirements of our dynamic and forward-thinking Science Department.
About the Role:
As Senior Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning by ensuring that science laboratories are well-prepared, safe, and effectively resourced. You will oversee a small team of technicians and work closely with teaching staff to support practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organising, preparing, and setting up equipment and materials for practical lessons
- Ensuring laboratories and prep rooms are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Managing stock control, ordering resources, and maintaining equipment
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, including COSHH regulations
- Supporting and supervising a team of science technicians
- Assisting in the development of practical resources and demonstrations
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience as a science technician, ideally within a school environment
- Strong subject knowledge across all science disciplines
- A good understanding of relevant health and safety procedures
- Excellent organisation, time management, and teamwork skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. science-related degree, NVQ Level 3 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities or equivalent)
