A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in East London is seeking two dedicated Female SEND Teaching Assistants to join its supportive SEND department from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for compassionate, patient and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting students with additional needs and making a meaningful impact on their education and wellbeing.
The Role
- Working alongside teachers and the SEND team, you will provide high-quality support to students with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.
- Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support within the classroom.
- Supporting students with personal and intimate care where required.
- Assisting with manual handling and mobility support.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
- Supporting students' social, emotional and academic development.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff to deliver individual support plans.
- Promoting a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Applicants must have:
- A degree (essential).
- Previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a SEND setting.
- Confidence providing personal and intimate care.
- Manual handling training or relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
- A calm, caring and professional approach.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
