About the Role: We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic Head of Physical Education to lead a successful and well-established department from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PE teacher or current middle leader ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for PE and school sport, promoting excellence in teaching and learning while fostering a culture of participation, teamwork, and high achievement across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the PE department to ensure outstanding teaching and learning
- Design and implement a broad, balanced, and inclusive PE curriculum
- Drive high standards of student achievement and engagement in physical education
- Organise and oversee extracurricular sports programmes, fixtures, and events
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, implementing improvements where necessary
- Support and develop staff within the department through coaching and professional development
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have a proven track record of successful PE teaching across Key Stages 3-5
