East London Secondary School Principal Education is recruiting on behalf of a successful and highly regarded secondary school in East London for an experienced Head of Geography to start in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Geography teacher and current or aspiring middle leader to take ownership of a thriving Humanities department within an Outstanding Ofsted-rated school.

The Role

  • Lead the Geography department across KS3 KS5
  • Inspire students through engaging and high-quality teaching
  • Develop curriculum planning and assessment strategies
  • Support departmental staff through coaching and development
  • Raise attainment and maintain high academic standards
  • Play a key role within the wider Humanities faculty

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong Geography subject knowledge
  • Experience teaching Geography at KS3 KS5
  • Leadership experience within a secondary setting preferred
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
