We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, creative, and visionary Head of Art to lead our thriving Art Department from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to shape the strategic direction of Art across the school and inspire students to achieve exceptional outcomes.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide strong leadership for the Art Department, promoting a culture of high expectations, creativity, and academic excellence. You will be responsible for curriculum development, teaching and learning, staff support, and ensuring students of all abilities are engaged and challenged.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the Art Department
- Deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3-5
- Develop an ambitious, inclusive, and innovative Art curriculum
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment
- Inspire students to develop creativity, confidence, and technical skill
- Support and mentor departmental staff
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including exhibitions and enrichment opportunities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A strong academic background in Art or a related discipline
- Proven experience of successful teaching and leadership
- A passion for art education and student achievement
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- The ability to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues
