We are seeking a practical, organised and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to support our busy and creative DT department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for supporting young people in developing their creativity and practical abilities.
You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and supporting staff and students during practical lessons.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and set up materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons
- Support teaching staff during practical sessions where required
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised workshop environment
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, repaired and stored
- Manage stock levels and order materials when required
- Support health and safety procedures within the department
- Assist in demonstrating safe use of tools and machinery to students
- Contribute to the development of engaging DT projects and displays
- Have experience working in a workshop, school or practical environment (preferred)
- Be practical, hands-on and confident using tools and machinery
- Understand or be willing to learn health and safety procedures in a school setting
- Be organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks
- Work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff and students
- Have a positive and proactive attitude
- Previous experience in a school DT department is desirable but not essential
