The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and committed Teacher of Design & Technology (with Engineering specialism desirable) to join our successful department from September 2026. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience and subject expertise. The successful candidate will inspire students through practical, engaging lessons that develop creativity, problem-solving, and technical understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach DT and Engineering across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
- Deliver engaging, practical and theory-based lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Contribute to the development of the Engineering and DT curriculum
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshops and labs
- Support students in developing practical skills using tools, machinery, CAD software, and design processes
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress effectively
- Contribute to extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and enrichment opportunities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology and/or Engineering
- Ability to teach resistant materials, product design, and engineering principles
- Experience using CAD/CAM software and workshop machinery (desirable)
- A passion for practical, hands-on learning and student achievement
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
