The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and committed Teacher of Design & Technology (with Engineering specialism desirable) to join our successful department from September 2026. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience and subject expertise. The successful candidate will inspire students through practical, engaging lessons that develop creativity, problem-solving, and technical understanding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach DT and Engineering across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Deliver engaging, practical and theory-based lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Contribute to the development of the Engineering and DT curriculum
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshops and labs
  • Support students in developing practical skills using tools, machinery, CAD software, and design processes
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress effectively
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and enrichment opportunities

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology and/or Engineering
  • Ability to teach resistant materials, product design, and engineering principles
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software and workshop machinery (desirable)
  • A passion for practical, hands-on learning and student achievement
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
