The Role
We are seeking an inspirational and ambitious Head of Business & Economics to lead a thriving department and continue to drive outstanding outcomes across A Level and vocational pathways. You will provide clear strategic leadership, ensuring high-quality teaching, strong student progress, and a culture of aspiration and achievement. You will also play a key role in shaping curriculum innovation and enrichment opportunities, including links with industry and higher education.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the Business and Economics department
- Ensure consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
- Drive strong student outcomes across A Level and vocational qualifications
- Oversee curriculum planning, sequencing and continuous improvement
- Lead data-informed strategies to monitor and improve student progress
- Develop enrichment opportunities, including competitions, guest speakers and university links
- Support and mentor teaching staff, including ECTs and experienced teachers
- Contribute to the wider leadership and strategic priorities of the college
About You
We are looking for a committed and forward-thinking leader who can combine strong subject expertise with inspirational leadership. You will have:
- A degree in Economics, Business or a closely related field
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- A proven track record of excellent classroom teaching
- Experience in curriculum leadership or departmental responsibility
- Strong understanding of A Level and/or vocational Business/Economics provision
- High expectations for student achievement and behaviour
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop a team effectively
