Design & Technology Technician

Location: Hanwell, West London

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (plus INSET days)

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Start Date: ASAP or September 2026

We are seeking a practical, organised and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to support our busy and creative DT department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for supporting young people in developing their creativity and practical abilities. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and supporting staff and students during practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons
  • Support teaching staff during practical sessions where required
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised workshop environment
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained, repaired and stored
  • Manage stock levels and order materials when required
  • Support health and safety procedures within the department
  • Assist in demonstrating safe use of tools and machinery to students
  • Contribute to the development of engaging DT projects and displays

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Have experience working in a workshop, school or practical environment (preferred)
  • Be practical, hands-on and confident using tools and machinery
  • Understand or be willing to learn health and safety procedures in a school setting
  • Be organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff and students
  • Have a positive and proactive attitude
  • Previous experience in a school DT department is desirable but not essential
