Principal Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in East London to recruit an Art, Design Technology & Food Technician for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, practical and creative individual to support three thriving departments, ensuring teachers and students have everything they need to deliver engaging practical lessons.
The Role
Working across the Art, Design Technology and Food departments, you will play a key role in preparing lessons, maintaining specialist classrooms and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of practical learning spaces.
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials, equipment and resources for Art, DT and Food lessons.
- Maintain specialist classrooms, workshops and food rooms to a high standard.
- Organise, clean and safely store tools, equipment and materials.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering departmental resources.
- Support teachers during practical lessons where appropriate.
- Ensure all health and safety, COSHH and food hygiene procedures are followed.
- Carry out routine maintenance of equipment and report repairs where necessary.
- Create and maintain engaging displays of students' work around the school.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working as an Art, DT or Food Technician, or within a practical workshop, creative or school environment.
- Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Has good knowledge of health and safety procedures within practical subjects.
- Is proactive, reliable and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Enjoys working as part of a collaborative school team.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
