Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 12:30

Location: Coypool, Plympton based but must be able to travel between our 5 sites across Plymouth. On-site 4.5 days per week. Please note this role is a 3 month fixed term position.

We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate HR Advisor to join our dynamic People, Talent & Culture (PTC) team and contribute to the continued success of our organisation.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Operational People Services, this role will be to work closely with managers to address employee concerns, manage performance and absence, and implement best practices for employee engagement, while ensuring that we comply with employment law and uphold high standards of fairness and equity.

The role holder will be responsible for delivering the day-to-day HR business basics across Princess, with a focus on employee relations, responsible for providing guidance, support, and strategic advice on all matters related to employee relations within the business. The role is essential in ensuring that our company maintains positive working relationships, resolves conflicts, and fosters a productive work environment in our manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations Management: Lead on all aspects of employee relations, including investigating grievances, disputes, disciplinaries, and performance & absence-related issues.
  • Case Management: Provide expert advice and support on complex ER cases, ensuring fair and consistent decision-making and compliance with company policies and employment law.
  • Employee Engagement: Work collaboratively with the PTC team and managers to improve employee engagement and morale. Help to foster a positive workplace culture and ensure employees feel supported and valued.
  • Conflict Resolution: Use effective communication and problem-solving skills to resolve employee issues and conflicts in a timely and constructive manner, ensuring that both the business and employees are treated fairly.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all employee relations activities are compliant with UK employment law and company policies, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Union and Employee Representation: Where applicable, support communications with trade unions and employee representatives, maintaining strong and productive relationships.
  • Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle by providing the routine advice and administration needed for promotions, transfers, family leave periods and exit.
  • Accurately maintain employee Personnel Files ensuring adherence to the UK GDPR and Company Document Retention Policy.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar HR role, with a strong focus on Employee Relations, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Employment Law Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and its application in employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and workplace disputes.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees and managers at all levels, across multi-functional teams. You will need to navigate sensitive topics with professionalism.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve conflicts, provide solutions, and manage sensitive employee matters.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple cases and priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • IT skills: Confident and competent in the use of information technology in day to-day work, including standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Qualifications: CIPD Level 3 or relevant equivalent
