About the role
As a Care Educator Community Outreach, you will deliver education and training to learners from a wide range of partner organisations, helping to build confidence, knowledge and skills in end of life care. You will also contribute, where required, to education programmes delivered within the hospice. This is a varied and rewarding role combining teaching, relationship building and hands on support. You will work flexibly across different settings, using inclusive and engaging learning approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners. You will play an important part in widening access to hospice quality education, strengthening care in the community and improving experiences for people with life limiting illness and their families.
Β£29,000 to Β£32,000 a year depending on experience. This role is equivalent to AfC Band 4 level β Β£29K β Β£32K per annum full time. We also welcome applications from more experienced candidates on a salary equivalent to AfC Band 5 β Β£33K β Β£40K per annum full time.
Job responsibilities
- Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating inclusive learning and development programmes in end of life care.
- Deliver a range of training to a professional and consistent standard, both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Deliver education and training that is effective and recognises the learners' learning styles and preferences and support needs.
- Teach practical, physical, emotional and ethical aspects of end of life care.
- Assess learners using methods appropriate to the learning programme.
- Work with administrative support to plan appropriate venues, equipment and resources.
- Use feedback from learners, peers and managers to continually improve training quality.
- Deliver learning using varied methods including online teaching, coaching, mentoring and face to face sessions.
- Proactively encourage participation in hospice education and identify new training opportunities.
- Maintain a credible level of clinical competence to ensure effective learner support.
- Contribute to Education & Research data collection, monitoring and review.
- Represent the Education & Research Department at internal and external meetings when required.
Other Responsibilities
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, general tasks or working patterns as required.
- Work in other hospice locations when necessary.
- Participate in regular review and updating of this job description to reflect changing professional demands.
Qualifications
- Good standard of general education.
- Working towards or completed Level 5 academic qualification (e.g., foundation degree).

- Experience supporting junior staff in practice.
- Experience presenting to learners formally or informally.
