To be the recognised lead for clinical practice education and practice development initiatives within urgent and emergency care to support the delivery of good quality evidence based care for patients within the department. To contribute to the operational success of the Trust by improving nursing practice in collaboration with senior nurses and clinicians, supporting changes and developments in nursing practice within Acute Medicine and the acute medical wards to provide support to AAU, SDEC, Charnley (short‑stay medical ward), Fleming (Cardiology) and Harold (Respiratory). To provide professional leadership, support and advice to the nursing workforce. To facilitate education and training for the registered and non‑registered nursing staff within the department.
Main duties of the job:
- To support changes in nursing practice within urgent and emergency care based on evidence, research, audit findings and best practice, which improve and positively impact on patient outcomes and key performance indicators.
- To work in conjunction with the corporate practice development team to deliver key practice development changes within urgent and emergency care.
- To lead and work in conjunction with the Divisional Director of Nursing, Head of Nursing and Matron for urgent and emergency care to review and introduce new evidence-based practice to meet the needs of the department.
- To work with senior nursing staff within the department to assess and audit clinical skills of staff within the department.
- To collaborate with the matron and Ward Managers in working with staff who are under performing, providing objective assessment, setting action plans, evaluating and reviewing performance.
