Role Description
Princes Cardiff is recruiting for a Materials Scheduler to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with Materials Scheduling experience within an FMCG or Manufacturing business or someone with Planning experience looking to transition into Scheduling.
Overview
The Materials Scheduler is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective availability of raw materials and packaging to support Ambient and Chill production. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Purpose
To plan and schedule the delivery of appropriate quantities of raw materials and packaging to meet production requirements, while maintaining optimal stock levels and controlling costs in line with budget targets.
Working Hours
This is a Monday - Friday 8.45 - 17.00 position. There is a current arrangement to work from home x1 day a week subject to business needs. There is free onsite parking for the days in the office.

Key Dimensions
- Management of approximately 300 raw material SKUs
- Management of approximately 500 packaging SKUs
- Support for MES and other business improvement projects
- Production and analysis of operational reports
- Operating in a dynamic, fast-changing environment requiring strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule material deliveries to meet production requirements across 10 production lines (Ambient and Chill)
- Collaborate with the Planning team to resolve stock issues and respond to short-notice changes in production plans
- Maintain stock parameters to ensure efficient purchasing and delivery profiles while meeting agreed stock targets
- Expedite or defer orders in response to changes in demand forecasts
- Liaise with international suppliers and stakeholders, including third-party hauliers, Customs & Excise, and currency-related processes
- Manage external communications and coordinate supplier activities as required
- Utilise APO production planning systems to extract data, monitor performance, and generate reports
- Control material-related costs including storage, haulage, and demurrage within budget constraints
- Provide cross-cover within the Planning team as required
- Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs, in agreement with the line manager
Role Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong understanding of material scheduling, inventory management, and manufacturing operations
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in material scheduling and inventory management within a high-volume environment
- Proven ability to manage both daily operations and project work in a complex, fast-changing environment
- Experience using integrated planning systems (e.g., SAP APO or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
Desirable
- Experience in production planning
- Advanced SAP knowledge
