Overview

As Assistant Vendor Assurance Manager, you support the Vendor Assurance Team in implementing and maintaining product approval policies and supplier controls. You own day-to-day vendor and material assurance activities for your product category, ensuring compliance with BRC, customer, and legal requirements. You build strong supplier relationships, coordinate audits, and support technical agendas across Princes sites and suppliers. This role offers cross-functional collaboration and opportunities to influence food safety and quality at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own vendor and material assurance activities for designated product category
  • Support compliance with BRC, customer, and legal requirements
  • Coordinate supplier audits and drive corrective actions
  • Maintain and improve supplier and product approval processes and KPIs
  • Build technical relationships between suppliers, Princes, and customers
  • Provide technical support to QA and NPD teams
  • Manage documentation linked to QMS and HACCP/TACCP initiatives
  • Deputise for Vendor Assurance Managers when required
  • Support TACCP/HACCP/horizon scanning activities
  • Travel within UK/Europe as needed

Key requirements

  • Lead Audit Assessor qualification with substantial supplier audit experience
  • Substantial supplier management experience in food industry
  • Intermediate or advanced HACCP qualification (ideally)
  • TACCP qualification and experience in TACCP analysis
  • Allergen management system experience/qualifications
  • Experience with vendor assurance/approval systems
  • Experience with supplier risk assessments
  • Experience with UK retailers and COB codes of practice
  • Degree or equivalent in related discipline
  • Ability to travel widely; team and independent work capability
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
  • Decision making and adaptability
  • Teamworking with cross-functional groups
  • Experience with SAP (desirable)
  • Experience with QADEX or Hamilton Grant (desirable)
  • Knowledge of QMS, HACCP, TACCP frameworks
