Role Description
An opportunity to join as a buyer for the leading own label and branded oils supplier in the UK market, and a growing presence in Europe. Working for the joint venture within Princes of Edible Oils Limited - the 20-year strong partnership with Archer Daniels Midland.
- To strategically procure specified components or services at the lowest cost for the quantity, quality, and delivery requirements across the Group.
- Formulate and maintain in-bound supply chain strategies to maximise effectiveness and optimise the total cost of the components they buy.
- Prioritise focus on the European procurement requirements and identify purchasing development opportunities.
- Work with and support the Senior Buyers across the Oils portfolio.
- Drive profitability for the specific products within the Business Sector.

- Operating within the Oils commercial team.
- Procurement of customer own label and branded oils across multiple suppliers.
- Internal contacts – Buying; Operations; Sales; Marketing; Technical; NPD; Logistics; Legal; Finance; Treasury; Customer Services, Planning and Stock control Teams.
- External contacts - all suppliers in relevant areas of responsibility, customer Buyers to support Commercial team.
- Work closely with the Senior Buyers to deliver the purchasing strategy for the relevant Business Sector including partnership development.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management and procurement of customer own label and branded oils portfolio.
- Develop, maintain and constantly review the Group supply strategies for relevant areas of responsibility ensuring appropriate contingent and competitive supply is available to ensure on-going supply to the Group.
- Delivery of the partnership strategy as laid out in the purchasing strategy for the relevant products.
- Responsible for the management of purchase contracts in line with our sold positions and strategic purchasing decisions in conjunction with company policy.
- Responsible for the management and purchasing of currency in line with company policy.
- Constantly research and develop alternative sources of supply for consideration and ensure regular tenders are held utilising all available methods and technology at our disposal.
- Analysing and evaluating quotations submitted by suppliers to ensure that the quality, quantity, delivery, optimises total cost to the business after consideration of working capital costs, factory utilisation lead times, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring that the best information is obtained from suppliers and other sources with regard to market trends, pricing fluctuations and forecasts so that EOL remains the leading provider of information in the markets we operate in, using and presenting this knowledge to key internal and external stakeholders.
- To liaise with the site team / stock control team to deliver the inbound and outbound service level targets of the company, whilst maintaining working capital in line with budget requirements.
- Provide complete and accurate reports as required.
- Professionally resolve problems both internally and externally in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interests of the company.
- Regular participation in internal project teams to ensure Buying team requirements and expertise are considered in all appropriate projects.
- Represent, perform and act in the absence of the more senior member of the buying team on major issues / initiatives.
Role Requirements
- Thorough understanding of procurement processes and frameworks.
- Previous experience in a category management role.
- Excellent working understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier development and value chain mapping.
- Excellent working knowledge of allocated areas of spend.
- Understanding of contract principles and clauses and be able to construct and interpret agreements.
- Strong attention to detail, with an ability to adapt quickly to macro changes.
- Familiar with SAP.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
