Overview

Princes Limited is a consumer foods group with over 7,000 employees and production sites in the UK, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, France and Mauritius. Princes manufactures 350+ different food and drink products.

This role is based at the Long Sutton manufacturing site in the United Kingdom. It is a permanent, full-time, on-site position within the Operations area. The role operates on a day shift schedule, Monday to Friday, 8:45–17:00.

The purpose of this role is to maintain the site assets to achieve optimum operational efficiency, statutory and customer compliance, while following all health and safety requirements.

Role Description

We are seeking talented Engineers to join our dynamic team at our Long Sutton manufacturing site. The objective is to maintain the site assets from mechanical, electrical or process perspectives and to execute work schedules, Preventive Maintenance (PPMs), breakdowns, capital projects and continuous improvement work streams to support the manufacturing vision and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Safety, Quality, Hygiene: ensure personal safety and the safety of others in all duties with due regard to health and safety policies.
  • Adhere to HSE work policies (Lock out and Tag, Permit to Work/Enter) and ensure work complies with statutory and safety requirements.
  • Maintain GMP standards and ensure all work aligns with product safety, legality, integrity and quality standards.
  • Ensure risk assessments are completed and actioned.
  • Support a culture that reduces accidents and near misses.
  • Reduce customer complaints and wastage through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver best-practice maintenance and support the site in achieving food safety and quality standards.
  • Operations Management: establish clear objectives and priorities with the Area Coordinator to enable manufacturing to meet operational targets.
  • Record work carried out (PPMs, breakdowns, repairs and modifications); take ownership to ensure follow-up and closure of issues.
  • Assist with training and support other departments in the general running of the factory.
  • Identify your training needs and, with your manager, agree a time plan for achieving them.
  • Continuous Improvement: promote 5S, GMP and other continuous improvement tools to identify opportunities to improve quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Continually review performance and implement opportunities to improve.
  • Communication: ensure clear verbal and written handovers and start/end-of-shift reporting; communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams daily to provide concise status updates; coordinate with Engineering Stores to ensure spares are available for planned and breakdown maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Completed recognised engineering apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 or above (or equivalent), preferably a multi-skilled apprenticeship.
  • Ideally experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • PC literate.
  • Experience of using CMMS, preferably SAP.
  • Worked within a regulated environment and used Permit to Work systems and dynamic risk assessments.
  • Good working knowledge of fault finding and root cause analysis to close out actions permanently.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Advanced diagnostic skills in mechanical, electrical, PLC and process.
