Princes Liverpool is recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join our team. This is an exciting position within our Group Finance team to work for a leading FMCG business at a point of growth! Please note to be considered you will need to be fully qualified in ACA/ACCA. Monday - Thursday you will be working from our flagship office which is situated in the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool and then you will be able to work from home on a Friday.
Group Finance is an important part of the Princes Group with dealings at a high level within the organisation. Reports will be completed for the Group Directors or Chief Executives directly and general reports which are distributed throughout the organisation. The Financial Accountant is responsible for producing accurate and timely Group Financial Accounts and Other Reports / Presentations for Princes Group and New Princes Group.

Dimensions
- The ability to complete, understand and report on a £2.0Bn turnover and £60M PTP consolidation with 11 statutory entities.
- To provide critical financial support to the Chief Executives and Group directors with regular and frequent contact.
- Provide monthly operational and commercial statistics and quarterly financial information to New Princes.
- Liaison with external auditors (senior manager) during quarterly and annual external audits and tax consultants (senior manager) for corporation tax queries.
- Completion of financial information accurately with the Group finance team and within the deadlines set, examples of which include monthly overhead reports, monthly consolidated accounts, quarterly New Princes accounts submissions, annual forecast and budget.
- Communication across the various business areas is critical to enable completion of various monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc requests for information.
- This role provides a key point of contact to all divisions, providing clarification of all Group Policies.
Principal Responsibilities
- Completion of the monthly Group Management Accounts pack for distribution to SDSB members and directors. This consists of preparing all the main accounts schedules and appendices.
- Completion of the consolidated monthly group P&L for group reporting, reconciling results and challenging any differences submitted by teams. Ensuring all Group division numbers are correct and variances to budget are analysed correctly.
- Completion of financial information provided to our parent company New Princes e.g. monthly P&L's and Balance sheet.
- Compilation of various quarter end schedules to assist the Group Finance Manager to complete the quarterly consolidation pack for our parent company. Items such as intergroup balances schedules and various balance sheet analysis work.
- Responsibility for the production and reconciliation of the monthly working capital model, including maintaining file for changes in business requirements.
- Responsible for intercompany charges with 6 foreign subsidiaries which involves agreeing various cross charges on a monthly basis and raising an invoice on a quarterly basis for all agreed charges. Responsible for other ad-hoc recharges, internally and externally.
- Responsible for group division overhead reporting, including the posting of all necessary allocations, accruals, prepayments and full reconciliation of accruals and prepayments control accounts, ensuring all directors cost centres are accounted for correctly and all queries are answered on an accurate and timely basis.
- Hold monthly meetings with cost centre directors challenging their costs / forecasts to ensure they are reported accurately and most cost effective.
- Responsibility for completion of the group overheads budget and in conjunction with the Senior Financial Accountant and Group Finance Manager, responsibility for the completion of the group overhead consolidated budget process.
- Responsibility for the completion of national statistics reports that are issued to HMRC.
- Responsibility for all Princes Ltd and EOL VAT reporting requirements and to provide all UK VAT advice where necessary under the guidance of the Group Tax Manager.
- Responsible for collation of monthly VAT spot checking paperwork to assist the Financial Accountant to complete the associated VAT Return(s).
- Material Master Maintenance for items such as VAT rate, commodity codes, royalty rates etc.
- Completion of detailed tax information for all UK statutory entities on an annual basis for the Group Tax Manager who completes our annual corporation tax returns.
- Management of the Audit reconciliation app for Princes Ltd to ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed within agreed deadlines. Carry out regular spot checks to ensure quality of reconciliations and consistency.
- Responsible for all payroll control accounts reconciliations including providing support to the Payroll Manager.
- Responsibility for completion of the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement and ensuring payment is in accordance with HMRC deadlines.
- Responsibility for meeting various key controls as part of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting and assistance with on-going internal and external auditing of the processes.
- Ad-Hoc assistance in various other group reporting.
Role Requirements
- ACA/ACCA fully Qualified
- Proven Audit Experience
- Financial accounting experience through their first line job role
- Previous experience of preparing accounts packs
- A track record of producing good quality accurate work
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
