We are looking for a dedicated, skilled and adaptable Plumbing/Heating Engineer to join our Building Services team based in Peterborough, supporting the successful delivery of commercial building services projects across our portfolio.

What We're Looking For
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds and experience. To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or relevant equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a plumbing & heating engineer or a similar role
- Unvented Hot Water and Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations certifications
- Knowledge and strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems
- Willingness to travel on a daily basis and stay away when required for the needs of the business
- A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused approach aligned with our values of Building, Sharing, and Caring
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence using IT systems (Microsoft Office and project tools)
- Full UK driving licence (minimum 6 months post-test experience)

Job Description
Reporting to the Department Manager, you will support the Building Services team in delivering a diverse range of mechanical projects valued up to £1m. Projects span commercial, retail, public sector and government properties, including shopping centres, supermarkets, police stations and other secure facilities, some of which may require additional security clearance.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving installation, maintenance, fault-finding, repair and upgrade works on commercial heating and plumbing systems. Duties may include servicing and replacing boilers, maintaining heating plant and plant room equipment, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, commissioning systems, and diagnosing faults to ensure minimal disruption to customers.
While some of the work is undertaken independently and at client sites nationwide, you will be part of a supportive and collaborative team with colleagues always available and happy to provide assistance when needed. Flexible working hours may be required to meet project and client needs.
This is a key supporting role within the team, contributing to strong communication, collaboration, and a culture built on Building, Sharing, and Caring throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all duties associated with an NVQ Level 3 Engineer.
- Install, service, maintain and repair commercial heating and plumbing systems.
- Work on boilers, pumps, valves, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, controls and associated plant room equipment.
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, system flushing, balancing and commissioning.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to deliver work in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, company procedures and health and safety standards.
- Complete digital job records, certification and reports using company systems and mobile technology.
- Support, mentor and oversee apprentices and trainees.
- Attend site meetings and contribute to effective project delivery.
- Promote high standards of customer service and professional conduct.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency and performance.
- Provide support and cover for colleagues as required.
- Undertaking additional duties as required in line with role progression.
Working Hours
This is a Full-time position of 39 hours per week:
Monday to Thursday: 07:45 – 16:30hrs
Friday: 07:45 – 15:30hrs
Flexibility and travel (including occasional overnight stays) may be required depending on project needs.
