General Roles and Responsibilities:

As our Science/Design Technician, you will support the delivery of outstanding practical science/design lessons by ensuring laboratories/workshops are safe, organised and fully equipped. You will:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals and resources for practical lessons.
  • Maintain laboratories/workshops, preparation areas and stock rooms to a high standard.
  • Monitor, order and maintain equipment, chemicals and consumables.
  • Carry out safety checks and support compliance with COSHH, CLEAPSS and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Assist teachers and students with practical activities and provide technical advice where needed.
  • Undertake risk assessments and ensure the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Support first aid incidents within the department and maintain essential safety equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to provide an outstanding learning environment while promoting safeguarding, equality and professional standards.
