General Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the full public examination cycle, from entries through to results, certificates and post-results services.
  • Ensure all examination processes, systems and procedures comply with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
  • Coordinate internal and external examination arrangements, including timetables, rooming, resources, staffing and examination security.
  • Recruit, train and manage examination invigilators and coordinate effective invigilation.
  • Work closely with the SENDCo to ensure appropriate access arrangements and reasonable adjustments are implemented and evidenced.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, senior leaders and examination boards, responding to queries and resolving issues as required.
  • Manage examination clashes, unexpected issues and emergencies in accordance with regulations and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate examination records, candidate numbers and relevant data, and support the analysis and reporting of examination information.
  • Lead and support JCQ inspections and ensure examination policies and procedures are fully evidenced.
  • Arrange the receipt, checking and distribution of examination results and certificates, including supporting GCSE and A-level results days.
  • Manage enquiries about results, reviews of marking, appeals, special consideration and the retrieval of examination scripts.
  • Monitor examination expenditure and ensure examination fees and charges are accurate and appropriately managed.
