About the Role
This is a senior, hands‑on consulting role for an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) specialist.
You will design and deliver secure, scalable and operationally supportable AVD solutions for enterprise customers, working across the full project lifecycle from discovery and assessment through to implementation, migration, testing and operational handover.
You will act as a technical subject matter expert, working directly with customers on workshops, solution design, presales, stakeholder engagement and delivery governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and optimise enterprise AVD environments, including host pools, session hosts, applications, profiles and image management.
- Design supporting Azure services including Entra ID, Conditional Access, Azure networking, DNS, routing, private connectivity and security controls.
- Implement and troubleshoot FSLogix, including profile containers, storage and performance.
- Deliver Azure infrastructure including VMs, storage, backup, monitoring and logging.
- Use Power Shell and automation to improve deployment and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to Bicep, Terraform, Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub infrastructure‑as‑code and Dev Ops practices.
- Lead or contribute to customer discovery workshops, technical designs, presales and solution recommendations.
- Produce high‑quality technical documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, migration, test and implementation plans.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies and change impacts throughout delivery.
- Support service transition, operational handover and knowledge transfer.
- Share knowledge, mentor colleagues and contribute to reusable technical standards and solutions.
- Strong hands‑on experience designing and delivering enterprise AVD solutions.
- Proven client‑facing consulting experience, including workshops, discovery, design and stakeholder management.
- Strong knowledge of Entra ID, Conditional Access and hybrid identity.
- Solid Azure networking experience, including VNets, routing, DNS, firewalls, private connectivity and hub‑spoke/landing‑zone architectures.
- Practical FSLogix experience and troubleshooting capability.
- Strong Azure infrastructure knowledge covering Iaa S, storage, monitoring, backup, governance and security.
- Strong Power Shell skills for deployment, configuration and automation.
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
- Infrastructure‑as‑code experience with Bicep, Terraform or ARM.
- Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub experience, including source control and pipelines.
- Exposure to Microsoft Intune, endpoint management, application packaging or Windows 365.
- Experience migrating from VDI, RDS or on‑premises desktop environments to AVD.
- Experience working with regulated or security‑conscious organisations.
- Preferred Certifications
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
- Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300).
- Dev Ops Engineer Expert (AZ-400) or relevant infrastructure‑as‑code certification would be advantageous.
