Prince Personnel are working with a well-established business located in Telford to recruit for a Payroll HR Officer on a permanent basis. The Payroll HR Officer is responsible for the processing of the company’s payroll and for delivering the HR administration that supports the full employee lifecycle.
You will be responsible for:
- Process the end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll for all employees.
- Collect, check and input variable pay data such as overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, deductions and timesheet or clocking data.
- Process starters, leavers and changes to pay, hours and contracts.
- Calculate and administer statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, SPP, ShPP, SAP and statutory bereavement pay, alongside any enhanced company schemes.
- Calculate holiday pay correctly, including for irregular-hours and part-year workers, and final pay for leavers.
- Submit Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC and manage PAYE, National Insurance, student loan and attachment of earnings deductions.
- Administer workplace pension auto-enrolment, including assessments, contributions, opt-outs and re-enrolment.
- Produce year-end outputs including P60s and support P11D reporting.
- Reconcile payroll each period and prepare reports for Finance, including journals and payment files as required.
- Act as the first point of contact for employee payroll queries.
- Maintain accurate employee records on the HR and payroll systems, ensuring data integrity between the two.
- Prepare contracts, variation letters and other HR correspondence.
- Support recruitment and onboarding, including offer paperwork, pre-employment checks and right to work checks.
- Record and monitor absence and holiday, producing reports and flagging trigger points to managers and the HR Manager.
- Support the HR Manager with employee relations administration, such as arranging meetings and taking accurate notes.
- Administer benefits and support the annual pay review process.
- Ensure audit ready for all governing bodies and customer audits.
- Ensure payroll and HR processes comply with current UK legislation, including National Minimum and Living Wage, working time and holiday pay requirements.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes, including reforms arising from the Employment Rights Act 2025, and help implement changes to payroll and HR processes.
- Produce regular and ad hoc HR and payroll reports, such as headcount, absence, turnover and gender pay gap data.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will need to have proven experience running an end-to-end UK payroll, including statutory payments, RTI, PAYE, NI, pensions auto-enrolment and holiday pay. You will need to be confident with payroll software and Microsoft Excel (e.g. lookups, pivot tables).
