We are delighted to be supporting a leading Telford-based manufacturer in recruiting an additional Design Engineer to join their highly skilled Design Engineering Team. Working alongside experienced design engineers, you’ll gain exposure to the full product development lifecycle from concept through to production, while contributing meaningfully to live projects. As a CAD Design Technician, you will:
- Assist in creating CAD models and prototypes under the guidance of senior design engineers
- Support the team through concept development and R&D stages
- Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, materials, and methods
- Help build a design library leveraging AI tools
- Collaborate closely with commercial teams
- Represent the business at customer sites, internal meetings and industry events such as trade shows and exhibitions
We are looking for someone who:
- Has some base level experience in a design related role (Design Engineer, Design Technician, Trainee Designer) or is a recent graduate
- Possesses strong 3D design skills – SolidWorks preferred, but other 3D packages considered
- Is ambitious, eager to learn, and focused on career development
- Is comfortable being customer‑facing and providing on‑site technical support
- Has experience using AI tools in design processes
- Holds an apprenticeship or degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical or product design advantageous)
