We have an exciting opportunity at one of our very well-established and prestigious clients in the north Shropshire area. They have an opening for an experienced Senior Buyer within their existing Procurement team who are responsible for the effective sourcing, planning and procurement of technical components and materials to ensure customer orders are manufactured and delivered within agreed timeframes.
You will be joining a business with an open and friendly culture, where transparency and clarity of expectations means the team all pull together to support each other achieve common goals. They are on a journey of improvement and as the Materials Buyer you will have a unique opportunity to make a direct contribution by getting involved in projects relating to Purchasing activities.
As the Senior Buyer you will be getting involved in:
- Sourcing new suppliers and negotiating all prices and terms
- Working closely with the MRP system daily and placing required purchase orders
- Scheduling materials requirements according to production schedules
- Liaise with the warehouse function regarding stock to ensure sufficient min/max levels are maintained
- Scheduling in the receipt of stock required and ensuring stocks are available in accordance with the manufacturing schedule
- Forecasting demand for production materials and components
- Monitoring and analysing supplier performance, terms and conditions and service level agreements (implementing these where necessary)
- New product introduction and Bill of material control
- Internal departmental liaison (Sales, Marketing and Engineering)
- Expediting inbound purchased goods and production orders
- Stock management between multiple warehousing sites UK and Europe
- Checking and updating inventory data
Skills and experience required:
- Previous experience in a Buyer role within a manufacturing or engineering organisation
- Good technical aptitude
- Good understanding of materials planning and scheduling principles
- Previous experience of working with and excellent knowledge MRP/ERP system capabilities will be ESSENTIAL
- CIPS Qualification would be advantageous but not essential
- Strong commercial acumen and experience in sourcing, negotiating, supplier relationship management
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
