Prince are happy to be supporting an established client based in the north Shropshire area, who currently have a fantastic opportunity to join their existing design team in a senior capacity. Due to company growth and exciting, upcoming projects, this business is looking to expand their design team and skillset by bringing in a Lead / Senior Design Engineer.
Lead Design Engineer Responsibilities
- Guiding, supporting and leading a small team of Design Engineers
- Supporting with the design of new and bespoke products in compliance with industry and client specifications
- Prepare and review 3D models, fabrication drawings and BOM’s using CAD software that the designs meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with internal manufacturing teams to optimise designs for manufacturability
- Perform engineering calculations
- Develop and maintain design documentation, data sheets and technical specifications
- Provide technical support through the manufacturing, inspection and testing phases
- Support sales with quotations
- Liaising directly with customers and suppliers on design requirements and specifications
- Researching other products in the market to generate ideas for improvement
- Providing technical advice and support on design requirements
- Working with both 3D and 2D software systems such as AutoCAD/ Inventor/ Solidworks
Skills and Experience
- Must have experience with 3D software (AutoCAD/ Inventor/Solidworks)
- Finite Element Analysis exposure/understanding would be advantageous
- Relevant qualification would be ideal but not essential
- Must be within commutable distance – Must drive or have access to own transport
- This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer / Mechanical Designer
