We're supporting an innovative engineering business that partners with customers worldwide to deliver advanced automated systems and solve complex control challenges. They are now seeking an experienced Controls Systems Engineer to join their team, taking a lead role in PLC programming, system commissioning, advanced control techniques and customer support. This is a varied and technically stimulating position involving UK and overseas travel, where you'll work on the full lifecycle of control system development, from coding and testing through to commissioning and training. Responsibilities
- Writing and developing PLC code using Allen Bradley / Rockwell platforms (essential)
- Programming and configuring Siemens S7 / TIA Portal systems
- Developing structured ladder logic, function blocks and statement lists
- Setting up industrial communication networks such as EtherNet, Modbus and Profibus
- Configuring AC/DC drives, inverters and motion control equipment
- Applying advanced control strategies including PID loops for flow, level, pressure, temperature and humidity
- Performing hardware and software testing and validation
- Commissioning automated systems both in the UK and worldwide
- Delivering customer training and providing remote technical support
- Developing both PLC and robot control software
- Fault finding, diagnostics and resolving technical issues
- Working safely and professionally within company procedures and risk assessments
Qualifications
- PLC programming with Allen Bradley (essential)
- PLC/SCADA system design and development
- Software, hardware and systems development within automation
- Experience with Ignition systems desirable but not required
- Commissioning automated machinery or control systems
- Technical problem solving and customer-facing communication
