We are working with an established client based in Telford who currently have a fantastic opportunity to join their Purchasing and Supply Chain team. You will be maintaining the Materials Requirement Planning for the manufacturing site and build relationships with suppliers, negotiate cost-savings where possible, working in a fast-paced environment alongside internal departments to ensure the supply chain is smooth and to the quality required. This role is more heavily focused on the supply of raw materials as well as managing other supplier contracts, so would be better suited to a purchasing and/or supply chain/materials professional. Our client has a fantastic benefits package available and offers a great team working environment.
The Purchasing and Supply Chain Planner will be responsible for:
- Working with suppliers to develop and maintain relationships
- Utilising well-practised negotiation skills to drive cost-saving activities
- Placing and expediting orders
- Liaising with internal departments over material lead time
- Ensuring the company maintains a sufficient level of raw material stock at all times
- Operating company MRP system keeping SKU information accurate and updated
- Ensuring accuracy of MRP forecasts and plans
- Working with suppliers and evaluating their performance and service level
- Supplier management and ensuring suppliers are meeting agreed SLA’s
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a Supply Chain Planner / Supply Chain Coordinator / Materials Control / Purchasing / Buyer role within a manufacturing environment
- Must be computer literate and have previous working experience on MRP systems and a good level of Excel knowledge
- Previous experience of supplier negotiations and effective vendor management
- Able to communicate effectively with internal departments and suppliers
- Strong material control and forecasting abilities
