A well-established manufacturer is seeking an experienced Pattern Maker to join its Pattern Shop in Telford. This is a key technical role supporting right-first-time casting, tooling reliability, and continuous improvement across the operations.
You will be responsible for producing, maintaining, and improving high-quality pattern and core tooling, working closely with technical, production, and quality teams to support safe, efficient, and sustainable manufacture.
As the Pattern Maker, duties will include:
- Manufacturing new patterns and core boxes from drawings, CAD data, or existing components
- Repairing, modifying, and maintaining existing pattern tooling
- Applying correct shrinkage, draft, machining allowances, and core prints
- Selecting suitable materials including timber, resin, and metal
- Supporting defect reduction, tooling improvement, and process efficiency
- Working to health, safety, and quality standards at all times
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Pattern Maker
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD data
- Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of green sand and chemically bonded moulding processes
- A proactive, safety-conscious, and continuous improvement mindset
- Apprenticeship or formal training (desirable)
