Overview
HR Administrator - Onboarding & Compliance – Shrewsbury – Permanent
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm (Fully office based)
Salary up to £27,000 per annum
What You'll Be Doing
- Take full ownership of the post-offer onboarding and compliance process
- Carry out and manage all pre-employment checks, including right to work, references, DBS and any overseas checks
- Ensure safer recruitment standards are consistently met, including investigating gaps in employment and resolving any discrepancies
- Work at pace to progress candidates through checks quickly, reducing the risk of drop-off before start date
- Take a thorough and methodical approach, ensuring even minor concerns are followed up and resolved
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across HR systems and personnel files
- Liaise with hiring managers, recruitment and HR teams to keep onboarding on track
- Support the coordination of onboarding documentation and induction processes
- Provide additional administrative support to the wider HR and recruitment teams when onboarding activity allows

- Previous experience in an HR administration, onboarding or compliance-focused role
- Strong understanding of pre-employment checks and safer recruitment practices (highly desirable)
- Exceptional attention to detail with a tenacious and investigative mindset
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple candidates and deadlines simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and speed are equally important
- Confident communicator who can build relationships across teams
- Proactive, reliable and able to take ownership of processes
