We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing manufacturing business in Telford that is seeking a proactive and detail-focused professional to join its established Supply Chain team.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of raw materials, supporting production schedules, and maintaining optimal inventory levels within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As a Materials Planner, you will be responsible for ensuring materials are available to meet production demands while maintaining accurate inventory levels and supporting supplier performance.
The Materials Planner will be responsible for:
- Monitor material requirements in line with production plans and customer demand
- Raise purchase orders and schedule call-off orders with suppliers
- Manage inventory levels to ensure continuity of supply while minimising excess stock
- Maintain and improve MRP system accuracy
- Review purchase orders, supplier confirmations, and delivery schedules
- Support supplier performance monitoring and relationship management
- Investigate material shortages and stock discrepancies, implementing effective solutions
- Produce planning reports, analyse supply chain data, and identify improvement opportunities
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience as a Materials Planner, Materials Controller, Inventory Planner, Inventory Controller, Production Planner, or within a Supply Chain Planning environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chain and materials planning processes
- Experience using an MRP/ERP system, ideally SAP
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- The ability to prioritise workload and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
