Prince Personnel are delighted to be supporting an established and growing manufacturing business in North Shropshire with the recruitment of a Mechanical Design Engineer. Whether you are a recent graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline and some practical design experience, or an experienced Design Engineer looking for your next challenge, this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

You will play a key role in the design and development of both new and existing products, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments to produce practical and commercially successful engineering solutions. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the design and development of new and bespoke products in line with customer and industry specifications
  • Producing and reviewing 3D models, fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials using CAD software
  • Ensuring designs meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with manufacturing teams to optimise products for efficient production
  • Carrying out engineering calculations and technical assessments
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, specifications and data sheets
  • Providing technical support throughout manufacturing, inspection and testing activities
  • Assisting the sales team with technical information and quotations
  • Liaising directly with customers and suppliers regarding design requirements and project specifications
  • Researching market trends and competitor products to support continuous improvement and innovation
  • Providing technical advice and guidance on engineering and design matters
  • Working with both 2D and 3D CAD packages including AutoCAD, Inventor and SolidWorks

Skills and Experience

  • Must have experience with 3D software (AutoCAD/ Inventor/Solidworks)
  • Finite Element Analysis exposure/ understanding would be advantageous
  • Relevant qualification would be ideal but not essential
  • Must be within commutable distance - Must drive or have access to own transport
  • This role would suit a Graduate Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, Mechanical Designer or Design Engineer
