The Prince of Wales Hospice provides specialist palliative care in the Five Towns area (Pontefract, Castleford, Knottingley, Normanton, Featherstone and surrounding area) to people whose illness is no longer curable.
Do you have skills and experience in finance, income generation (including fundraising or retail), the charity sector or another area which you can use to help shape local charitable Hospice care? Do you have good business acumen, knowledge of the local community, social care or the NHS? Do you have lived experience of hospice care? Can you bring passion, dedication and motivation to champion our Hospice?
We are looking to strengthen our committed Board by recruiting new Trustees. You can make a real difference to Hospice care by becoming a Trustee and our Trustees play a vital role in shaping the future of our Hospice services.
Your commitment
- To really get to know the Hospice and its work, we ask for a commitment of 3 years
- You will need to attend 4-6 Board meetings and around 4-8 sub-committee meetings each year
- To represent the Hospice at external events and meetings
- All meetings take place in Pontefract, West Yorkshire and Trustee posts are unremunerated
About the role
- Work with the Board of Trustees to agree overall strategy and business objectives, and monitor against these
- Work with the Board of Trustees to understand and act upon financial and other monitoring information
- Understand the Hospice aims and objectives and operate in accordance with these
- Ensure appropriate governance and that the Hospice operates in compliance with regulatory bodies
- Safeguard the reputation of the Hospice
- Be an active spokesperson and representative of the Hospice as required
