We are looking for a People and Culture Assistant to join our team and play a key role in supporting both our reception service and People and Culture function. At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14-bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic.
Responsibilities
- This is a varied and hands-on role where you will work closely with our Volunteers Coordinator to maintain a professional and welcoming reception service through the support and organisation of reception volunteers.
- You will manage rotas, provide guidance and training, and step in to provide reception cover when required (particularly on weekends).
- Alongside this, you will provide high-quality administrative support across the People and Culture function, ensuring HR systems, records and processes are maintained accurately and confidentially.
- You will play an important role in supporting both employees and volunteers, helping to create a positive and supportive working environment.
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Have experience in administrative or office-based roles
- Have experience providing customer-facing or reception services
- Be highly organised, with the ability to plan, coordinate and manage rotas effectively
- Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and compassionately with a wide range of people
- Be confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and HRIS
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Be able to prioritise workload and manage competing demands
- Have a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Be willing and able to provide hands-on reception cover during weekends
