Responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and build of modern data platforms, largely Databricks-based.
- Acting as the technical lead on client work — setting direction, standards, and approach.
- Staying close to the code: pipelines, optimisation, reviews, design decisions.
- Working directly with clients to solve real problems, not just deliver tickets.
- Helping shape how we deliver projects as a consultancy as we grow.
You’re expected to be technically strong and visible as well as being able to lead and guide less experienced Engineers.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience as a Senior or Lead Data Engineer.
- Solid Databricks experience.
- Strong experience with Unity Catalog specifically and Data Governance generally.
- Strong SQL and Python skills.
- A good understanding of data modelling, performance, and cost trade-offs.
- Comfort working in client-facing environments.
- An interest in setting standards and mentoring others.
- Consultancy experience is useful, but not required.
- Experience with FinOps is desirable.
This role will be remote-first, with occasional travel to London. The role will be paid at circa £600 - £700, outside of IR35, depending on skills and experience.
