Data Engineering Manager | Β£85,000βΒ£95,000 + Benefits | Hybrid (UK)
A growing UK data and AI consultancy is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to join their engineering leadership team. This is a newly created role, sitting alongside the Head of Engineering and one other manager, designed to share the load as the practice scales.
You'll split your time roughly 80/20 between client delivery and technical pre-sales. On the delivery side, you'll lead engagements across the Microsoft data stack and Databricks, working with hybrid onshore/offshore teams. You'll stay hands-on β particularly on the trickier work β while coaching a small group of consultants through their development, 1-2-1s and progression.
On the pre-sales side, you'll partner closely with the growth team and key partners (Microsoft, Databricks) on pitches, workshops and RFIs. You won't own the commercial cycle, but you'll be the technical credibility in the room.
What we're looking for
- A consulting background - you understand client delivery in a professional services environment
- Strong hands-on data engineering on Microsoft and/or Databricks
- Experience line-managing or coaching engineers (even one or two reports is fine if the rest fits)
- The credibility and presence to be put in front of clients and partners
- Genuine interest in being part of building a capability, not just delivering tickets
What's on offer
- Β£85,000βΒ£95,000 base (some flex for the right person)
- Private medical, electric car scheme, pension, discretionary bonus
- Flexible location across UK core offices, with client travel a couple of times a month
- Visible, varied role with real input into how the engineering practice grows
