We host what we build.

That means Linux servers, Docker containers, My SQL, Apache, Cloudflare in front and backups behind, across client sites, a dealer management system, telephony and our own site.

When a PHP security release lands, every container gets patched within days, and someone checks that it did.

This role owns that estate, hands on. You will write the runbook, run it, and change it when it lets you down.

  • What you will be doing
  • Run and patch Linux hosts and Docker services, and keep the inventory of what runs where.
  • Own backups and restores, and test the restores on a schedule.
  • Manage DNS, TLS, Cloudflare rules and email authentication for us and for clients.
  • Monitor uptime and performance, and investigate what the alerts mean before acting.
  • Carry out security reviews on client platforms and write them up for a non-technical reader.
  • What you will need
  • At least five years of commercial work in this field that you can show us. We promise clients that everyone on their project has that, so it is not negotiable.
  • Production Linux and Docker you have run yourself, including the incidents.
  • My SQL administration: users, backups, slow queries, upgrades.
  • Scripting in Bash, Python or PHP for the jobs you do more than twice.
  • A habit of writing things down before, not after.
  • Useful, not required
  • Docker Swarm or another orchestrator.
  • Experience with Cloudflare beyond DNS.
