- The company
A fast-growing, US-headquartered AI company is opening its London office.
Its platform helps large enterprises make better business decisions by combining structured, rules-based reasoning with AI, so the decisions can be explained and audited.
It’s already working with major enterprise clients, and the UK team is just getting started.
The role
You’ll own the client room and the data.
You’ll work directly with clients to understand how they make decisions, connect to their data and build solutions on the platform: workflows, integrations and front ends.
Early on, core engineering leads the deeper platform and data-modelling work.
As the team grows, you’ll take on more of it yourself.
- A 3-day on-site kickoff covering data access, data mapping and the groundwork for the client’s business model
- A 3-month pilot with up to 2 site visits, which then converts to an annual contract with roughly quarterly check-ins
- Around 6 client visits a year in total
- What you’ll bring
- You build across the full stack on your own. You’ve personally built APIs, backends, databases and deployments, and you could stand up a client-facing service with no one else.
- You’ve worked with client data. You’ve pulled data from systems you didn’t control, then cleaned, validated and mapped it, and kept it refreshing.
- You’ve led client engagements .
You have at least 2 years working directly with external business leaders (VP, Director or C-suite).
You’ve run engagements from discovery through to delivery, and you can explain technical work in plain English.
- At least one delivery for an insurance client, such as underwriting, claims or policy data
- Around 3+ years of professional engineering experience
- A real desire to work with clients, not just to change jobs
- Nice to have
- Data science, such as building scores, models and weightings from client data
- Front-end development
- Experience designing schemas, rules engines or knowledge graphs
- Backgrounds that tend to do well
Forward deployed, solutions or implementation engineers who write production code.
Backend or full-stack engineers who have worked with external clients.
Data engineers with real client exposure.
Founding or early engineers who owned both the build and the customer relationship.

How to prepare for a job interview at Primis
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Primis uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
✨Showcase Your Projects
Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.
✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions
While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
