This role is based at our Solihull office; however, hybrid/remote working will be considered and can be discussed at the interview stage. There will be a need to travel to our offices in Solihull to attend internal and external meetings.
Role Purpose
The purpose of the Product Governance team within the Compliance Operations Function of Primis is to ensure the products offered by providers on our panel support our members in delivering great outcomes for their customers. This is a dynamic and varied role in which the role holder will be required to work with both internal and external stakeholders to assist the Head of Product Governance in meeting our regulatory requirements through the effective deployment of the Product Governance Framework. The role holder will act as the key point of contact for internal colleagues, appointed representatives, and providers for products within their spans of control.
Main Accountabilities
- Business partner with key stakeholders within other areas of the LSL Financial Services Division, our external provider partners, and our appointed representatives.
- Acting as SME for the products we manufacture and distribute within your span as requested by the Head of Product Governance.
- Under the guidance of the Head of Product Governance, you will be responsible for the effective deployment of the product governance framework across your allocated span of providers.
- A key element of the framework is testing the products and services we manufacture and distribute to ensure they meet the needs of our target market and provide fair value to customers.
- The role holder will be analytical and curious, with an ability to think outside the box using skills such as horizon scanning of other sources such as rhetoric from the FCA, FOS, and industry press to form decisions.
- The role holder will be product agnostic, able to adapt and apply the frameworks against differing internal and regulatory requirements relevant to the differing product sets within their spans of control.
- In order to fulfil your responsibilities effectively, you will have a working knowledge of multiple FCA sourcebooks, i.e., MCOB, ICOB, PROD, PRIN.
- Design, collate, and analyse requests for information (RFI) from providers.
- Ability to confidently communicate complex technical and regulatory matters with internal and external stakeholders.
- This may involve deputising for the Head of Product Governance at relevant committees in their absence.
- As part of the role, there will be an ad-hoc requirement to provide oversight to the strategic relationship team with respect to provider onboarding to ensure robust due diligence has taken place before the appointment of a new provider/product set to the panel.
- Working with appointed representatives to execute any exception processes such as off-panel requests or fee/commission tolerance exceptions.
- To support project work/work of a similar nature or complexity as required by the Head of Product Governance.
Knowledge and Expertise
- Working in a regulated environment where the requirements of strong record-keeping are of paramount importance.
- Working knowledge of FCA sourcebooks including MCOB, PROD, and PRIN.
- Success in a similar role (data collation, project co-ordination/support, document control, oversight activities).
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous product governance/product experience gained in distribution or product manufacturing.
- Experience in writing/maintaining frameworks and policies.
- Experience working as part of a project team in an operational capacity.
- Relationship management/ability to hold difficult conversations to reach a mutually desired outcome.
