To ensure the business operates to accepted industry best practices in terms of quality management, prioritising safety in the discharge of these functions. To achieve and maintain conformance with any applicable ISO standard; British Standards and customer generated specifications. To meet customer expectations in respect of quality assurance and control and to cooperate with other departments in order to meet the strategic mission, goals and core values of the company.

Role Responsibilities

ยท To support the Business Management Team by discharging the role purpose effectively, expeditiously and to work with all other departments to develop best industry practices.

ยท To ensure that working practices comprise of safe persons, safe plant, safe equipment in a safe place, in the areas for which you have associated responsibilities.

ยท To provide adequate information, instruction, training and supervision to any person within the organisation who requires it.

ยท To manage, mentor and develop the quality assurance technicians within their role and areas of responsibility.

ยท To support the compliance officer by implementing and managing change as required.

ยท To support the proofing officers by managing their workload and ensuring open communication channels with other departments.

ยท To maintain and / or enforce industry standards and any best quality management practices throughout the company and through liaison and /or support with suppliers.

ยท To support manufacturing needs to ensure on time in full order fulfilment, to any relevant customer, within any relevant timeframe, that may be agreed or varied as per contractual requirement.

ยท To raise, manage and rectify all complaints or non-conformances with either suppliers or customers; to ensure a timely resolution; to implement any findings or recommendations regarding quality related problems and to implement continuous improvements to business practices as required.

ยท Accountability for spending, where such spending is within any delegated level of authority, and responsibility for generating a business case for purchases of significant value.

Section B: Generic Role Profile

The generic role profile provides a list of the main tasks that cover the broad range of duties and responsibilities performed at this level for the job role. An employee may not be undertaking all of these at any one time, but they could be expected to do so under their contract of employment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

ยท To carry out their duties in a manner that complies with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and any regulation that flows from it, that is to work safely and with due regard to the health, safety and welfare of themselves and of any other person who may be affected by their work activities.

ยท To carry out their duties in a manner that is consistent with industry standards, specific attention is drawn to waste management and pollution control.

ยท To develop and maintain the Primetake Quality Manual and ensure all company practices are both reflected in it and consistent with it.

ยท To direct on the analysis and inspection of goods inwards (fit, form and function tests), and finished products (technical specification of the explosive article, its packaging, markings and unit load specification).

ยท To develop and enhance the procedures associated with the good inwards processes, ensuring that any raw materials / components and finished products meet with Primetake quality requirements.

ยท To organise and / or supervise all activity associated with the calibration of equipment and the production of necessary evidence of calibration or other compliance documentation requested during external inspections, either by customers or the relevant quality assurance body.

ยท Responsibility for the timely planning of the build standard verification process within the framework of a production cycle, and the generation of the proofing results.

ยท To administer pre-delivery inspections and to facilitate inspection via the government quality appointed representative in the case of customers.

ยท To perform audit inspections, both with and without notice on any aspect of the business, and to support and manage patrol inspections performed by the Quality Assurance Technicians.

ยท To maintain and complete any documentation specific to a customer for quality assurance or control purposes, (e.g. the Ammunition Data Card).

ยท To maintain a register of certificates of conformity, such certification associated with any goods received by the company, such goods being destined for use in manufactured products and to ensure that such certification is kept up to date.

ยท To maintain a control of work procedure, in respect of contractors, direct employees and in-direct employees to reduce the risk of work-related injuries, illnesses or other associated occurrence.

ยท To raise and / or conduct any investigation on any non-conformance report which may be raised either internally by the company, or as a result of an external customer complaint, such information being recorded on the My Compliance management system.

ยท To formally record any health and safety violation or other incident, accident or near miss, on the My Compliance management system.

ยท To administrate any customer facing pre-delivery inspection (PDI) or any customer appointed inspection by a government quality appointed representative (GQAR), including post-inspection support.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

ยท To provide temporary cover for the SHEQ Manager during their absence.

ยท To maintain a program of certified continual professional development as may be required.

ยท To maintain professional membership of any relevant certified professional industry body as may be required.

ยท To perform the function of Incident Controller in the event of a site evacuation

ยท To undertake any other reasonable duty either inside or outside of the department, where in doing so it is assessed you are competent to discharge the duties that have been set.

Section C: Person Specification

The person specification provides a list of essential and desirable criteria (skills and competencies) that a candidate should have in order to perform the job. Each of the criteria listed below will be measured through; the application process (CV), a test / exercise (T), an interview (I), a presentation (P) or documentation (D)., * External: To liaise with external suppliers, regulators and customers regarding quality matters.

A time served apprenticeship, recognised by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (or organisation of similar standing).

A recognised engineering qualification, recognised by the Engineering Council (or organisation of similar standing).

A recognised auditing qualification, recognised by the Chartered Quality Institute (or organisation of similar standing), or willing to work towards obtaining one.

Demonstrable experience within a manufacturing environment regulated by the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Demonstrable experience of standardised problem solving techniques such as "8D", "5 Whys", "FMEA" or similar recognised engineering problem solving techniques.

Report writing and familiarity with the Microsoft Office 365 range of software applications, notably Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

A sound familiarity with the interpretation of technical drawings, charts etc. with an ability to recognise and understand the importance of tolerance and accuracy.

Experience in assessing process and manufacturing techniques, and where necessary implementing change to ensure quality and manufacturing deadlines are achieved

General knowledge of manufacturing techniques and methods, and the importance of process control and process management.

Proactive and dynamic disposition, willing to challenge existing processes and methods, in search of improving quality.

Confident and skilled in articulating a complex problem and explaining it in a non-technical manner using everyday language.

Possess a desire and ability to develop and learn new skills as the requirement for quality improvements are established., Health and Safety Qualification Level 3 or above, recognised by NEBOSH or other qualification body of similar standing, or willing to work towards obtaining one., Construction Skills Certificate Scheme "Black Card" or "White Card", or other similar qualification regulated by a body of similar standing., Qualified as a Lead or Internal Auditor in the ISO 9001 Quality Management System., Knowledge of hazardous materials, notably articles and substances in Dangerous Goods Class 1, and substances in Dangerous Goods Classes 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9., Previous experience in environments regulated by the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (as amended).
