Make a difference every day and give back to your community! This role will be based at Loran House Care Home, in Hull. The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 46 residents, living with a range of age related, physical and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. The home provides a unique reablement service within the local community and supports individuals with short stay respite care following their discharge from hospitals, to ensure a safe return home once rehabilitated. It is essential that candidates for this role are patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities to maximise and promote their independence.

Responsibilities
- Processing residents personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard within the laundry service
- Ensuring that any items that require thermal disinfection are processed correctly and that infection control procedures are strictly adhered to
- Ensuring that all items of personal and household laundry are ironed/pressed to a high standard
- Ensuring that all items of personal clothing and household linen are in a good state of repair and to bring to the attention of the Hotel Services Manager/Care Home Manager when they are not
- Maintaining all areas of the laundry, equipment and linen cupboards in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition, ensuring stock levels are adequate
- Remaining professional and courteous at all times with residents, colleagues, external professionals, family members and visitors to the home
- Following any health & safety procedures required of you and to ensure that any health and safety risks are reported to the Manager immediately
- Any other reasonable duties, as requested by your Manager, to meet the changing needs of the business
What we’re looking for
To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. Though prior experience as a Laundry Assistant is desirable, this is not essential as full training is provided. Typically, our residents live with age related conditions, life-limiting health conditions and physical disabilities that require dignified support from our care team. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities. Additionally, many of our residents live with dementia and as such an understanding of dementia would be beneficial.
