Aviation Learning & Development specialists are focused on professional growth and skill development of employees within the business by creating learning opportunities that help colleagues to be their best. The role offers the opportunity for learning professionals to work in the dynamic aviation sector, and utilise their skills to analyse, design, develop, and deliver high impact training interventions to meet regulatory, stakeholder and organisational needs.
Role Responsibilities- Training Needs Analysis
- Act in a consultative capacity to advise internal and external stakeholders / clients on matters pertaining to training needs.
- Conduct training needs analyses (TNA) to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement.
- Develop colleagues with the skills, knowledge and attributes required by the business which balances practical relevance and academic rigour.
- Develop individualised training plans to address identified needs.
- Training Programme Development
- Manage the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality training programmes / interventions / courses aligned to the needs of the business / stakeholders.
- Develop teaching strategies, materials, pathways and assessments which are inclusive, engaging, and appropriate to the workforce and needs of the business / stakeholders / clients.
- Develop training materials for new procedures.
- Develop and maintain the master library of training and reference materials and documentation.
- Horizon scan aviation / training sector developments to advocate best practice and latest innovations.
- Ensure training programmes encompass theoretical knowledge, practical skills, awarding body and regulatory compliance.
- Training Delivery and Management
- Deliver high-quality learning experiences across the range of training programmes / courses, ensuring they cater for different learning styles and educational needs - Must have aviation back of house operational experience to deliver training.
- Deliver high-quality teaching / instruction across all existing and future training programmes / courses (including apprenticeship programmes).
- Conduct assessment(s) employees completing internal training programmes / courses / formal qualifications in accordance with the requirements of the business / qualification awarding bodies / regulatory authorities.
- Support / assess / monitor delegates working towards qualifications.
- Review the effectiveness of training programmes and identify areas for improvement in consultation with the Head of Operational Training / L&D Training Manager and relevant stakeholders / subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Give pastoral support to delegates / learners engaged in training programmes / courses (including apprenticeship programmes).
- Plan and deliver of around training support where required (including apprenticeship programmes).
- Assist the Head of Operational Training / L&D Training Manager with the scheduling, organising, managing of supplemental training when required by the business.
- Contribute to the training of new or transferred employees on company paperwork procedures and customer documents and procedures.
- Examination / Assessment
- Carry out examinations / assessments in accordance with awarding body / company procedures / regulatory requirements - Must have aviation back of house operational experience to conduct assessments.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of competency assessment processes.
- Record Keeping and Documentation
- Ensure training records are up-to-date and are readily available for inspection.
- Maintain accurate records of training in accordance with legislative / regulatory requirements (GDPR / EASA / CAA), and / or awarding body requirements.
- Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Assess the effectiveness of training programmes through feedback, evaluations, and performance metrics.
- Make improvements based on evaluation outcomes and emerging best practices.
- Comply with PrimeFlight Training Departmental standardisation / QA processes and maintain records and other documentation as required in accordance with due process, policies, procedures, regulatory and awarding body requirements.
- Safety Management
- Incorporate safety management principles into training.
- Implement safety factors in line with IATA, CAA / EASA regulations and company policies.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Provide a professional, high-quality, customer led service to internal / stakeholders / clients.
- Work with other departments, including Compliance and Safety, and Human Resources, to ensure alignment of training initiatives with organisational goals when required.
- Communicate training objectives, schedules, and outcomes to all relevant stakeholders.
- Promote PrimeFlight and the Training Department by actively participating and engaging in company activities, including meetings, seminars, trade shows, open days, and engagement with external companies / awarding bodies / training providers / other partner(s) as required.
- Implement organisational strategy aligned to training.
- Undertake other related duties as may be reasonably assigned.
- Create a positive culture by role modelling and projecting PrimeFlight’s Learning & Development’s ethics and values.
- Commercial Awareness
- Deliver cost effective quality training.
- Identify potential training revenue streams.
- Facility Management
- Assist the Head of Operational Training / L&D Training Manager with the maintenance and improvement of PrimeFlight training facilities and resources.
- Self-Development
- Evidence self-development by undertaking Continual Professional Development (CPD).
- At least three years’ experience in a formal teaching / training role, or a similar Learning & Development role - not necessarily in the aviation sector.
- Level 4 CET (or above) or recognised equivalent.
- Level 5 CMI or L5 ILM Leadership & Management (or above) – or willing to obtain qualification.
- Level 3 TAQA Assessing or equivalent – or willing to obtain qualification.
- L5 CIPD (L&D) - or willing to obtain qualification.
- Level 4 IQA Internal Quality Assurance – Highly Desirable.
- Aviation BOH operational skills.
- Self-management / managing workload.
- Working at pace.
- Flexible / agile.
- Design, & develop training delivery materials, including SOWs, Lesson Plans, Training Needs Analysis, power points, handouts, and other related material(s).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

- Excellent interpersonal and observational skills.
- Experience of DSAT / ADDIE or similar processes.
