The Regional Operations Service Manager is accountable for the operational, commercial, and client performance of the Service & Small Works division across an allocated region. The role ensures contracts and projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with company standards, statutory requirements, and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Leading regional engineering operations and service delivery.
  • Driving performance against KPIs, SLAs, budgets, and profitability targets.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and supporting business growth.
  • Providing leadership and governance to Operations Managers, who retain day-to-day technical responsibility for engineering teams.
  • Lead and support Operations Managers across the region.
  • Ensure effective delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and small works.
  • Oversee resource planning, engineer utilisation, recruitment, scheduling, and productivity.
  • Maintain engineering quality, statutory compliance, and adherence to company standards.
  • Monitor contract performance, ensuring SLA and KPI targets are achieved and corrective actions implemented where required.
  • Support mobilisation of new contracts and maintenance programmes.
  • Manage operational risk and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Hold regional P&L responsibility and deliver agreed revenue and margin targets.
  • Drive operational efficiencies and profitability improvements.
  • Manage forecasting, budgeting, cost control, WIP, and debt management.
  • Support commercial reviews, contract optimisation, and value creation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and expand service offerings.
  • Support pricing, scoping, and delivery of regional works and contract variations.
  • Foster a high-performance, accountable, and safety-focused culture.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Provide escalation support for complex operational and technical issues.
  • Conduct probation reviews and annual performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Champion health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards across the region.
  • Act as the primary operational contact for key regional clients.
  • Lead client review meetings and manage service escalations.
  • Build long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for account growth.
  • Support strategic bids, cross-selling initiatives, and contract development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • IOSH Managing Safely (minimum).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Desirable: Previous regional management experience within FM or building services.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • SMSTS, NEBOSH, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification.
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering background (MEP).
  • Experience with CAFM or job management systems.
  • Understanding of asset lifecycle and maintenance planning.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
