The role:
As a UX Engineer you will lead the design of complex digital products and web applications, ensuring they are intuitive, accessible, and technically sound. You'll create high fidelity wireframes and prototypes, produce clear UX documentation, run usability testing, and act as the key link between clients, stakeholders, and development teams. Your work will focus on solving real user problems through strong UX principles and system led design rather than pure aesthetics.
The ideal candidate has experience designing within structured platforms (e.g. Sitecore, AEM, SharePoint), can confidently present to clients, and communicates technical concepts in a clear, user-friendly way. You should be comfortable collaborating with developers, have basic front end fluency, and bring a portfolio that highlights solid usability and user centered thinking. Location:
Ideally you will be able to commute to our Baldock office twice a week however this is not essential and a remote position can be considered.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience working in a mid-senior level UX focussed role with technical and digital elements ideally in a digital and creative agency
- Strong foundational understanding of digital product/platform and system design principles
- Expert in Figma
- Experience with different platforms and ecosystems when there are design constraints such as a specific component library or guidelines that must be adhered to e.g. Sitecore, AEM or a SharePoint site
- Excellent ability to communicate technical requirements and constraints to a non-technical audience
- Proficiency in writing all core UX documentation: user test scripts, user stories, and user personas
- Demonstrated experience in a client-facing or senior stakeholder presentation role
- Basic to good technical fluency in front-end technologies, allowing for effective dialogue with developers
- A portfolio that clearly prioritizes and showcases solid user experience and usability over creative aesthetics
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a high degree of user empathy and attention to detail
