We have opportunities for Fabricator/Welder to join our the BEAR SE contract working within the Major Bridges Maintenance Team. The major bridges include the Queensferry Crossing, Forth Road Bridge, Clackmannanshire & Kincardine Bridges. The role is based in South Queensferry, but there is scope to carry out works all over the NMC SE contract as required.
Our NMC SE contract is working in partnership with Transport Scotland, where we are responsible for delivering inspections, cyclic maintenance, design and build of projects, bridge structure improvements. Our Network Bridges team look after the smaller bridges throughout the NMC SE contract, and our Operations team look after the road network throughout the same area, as well as winter maintenance.
The Fabricator/Welder is an integral part of the Major Bridges Maintenance Team helping deliver the contract to the client at a high quality and standard. Although Fabrication/Welding is required for the role as we produce steelwork to execution class 3, the role also requires a good mechanical knowledge to enable repairs to plant and equipment, making the role quite unique and diverse. You will be joining a knowledgeable close-knit team, who will be glad to share their bridge knowledge and experience.
Standard working hours for the Major Bridges Maintenance Team is 40hrs, with a standard dayshift Monday to Friday.
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Fabrication & Welding of new steelwork projects to an execution class 3/Sector Scheme standards. This will include shop fabrication and site installation.
- Bridge structure repairs mechanical and welded.
- Undertaking all aspects of bridge maintenance works including routine and cyclic activities, which can include litter picking.
- Driving/Plant: Carry out vehicle checks, movement of materials, vehicle cleaning, minor maintenance when required.
- Safety: Working safely individually and within a work team is of high importance and employees need to ensure their safety and that of their team members.
- Record Keeping: Completing pre-use inspections of vehicles, plant and equipment where required. Completion of daily work records and cyclic check sheets, evidentiary photographs for our client. Completion of weekly electronics timesheets.
- Emergency standby team (incurs additional payment). This involves a rotational 1 full week of emergency standby cover.
- Emergency rescue team participation (full training provided).
- Working at Height.
- Confined Space.
- Assisting other trades as required.
A driving licence is essential for this position.
