Our learners often present with a range of needs, including SEMH, anxiety, disrupted education, or barriers to engagement. The Role

We are seeking a committed and adaptable GCSE and Functional Skills Teacher to deliver high‑quality English and/or Maths teaching to small groups and 1:1 learners. You will play a vital role in re‑engaging students, building confidence, and helping them secure the qualifications they need for their next steps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for GCSE and Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2).
  • Create a safe, supportive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Use assessment to track progress, identify gaps, and tailor learning to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider AP team, including mentors, SEN staff, and external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and evidence for progress reviews and safeguarding.
  • Contribute to a culture of high expectations, respect, and relational practice.
  • Support learners with reintegration, transition, or progression into further education, training, or employment.

About You

  • A qualified teacher (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent) – or an experienced instructor with strong subject knowledge.
  • Confident teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills in English or Maths.
  • Skilled at building rapport with young people who may have experienced trauma, exclusion, or disrupted learning.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient.
  • Able to differentiate effectively and personalise learning pathways.
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and positive outcomes for all learners.
