We are a leading destination for cultural and celebratory events in Leeds and regularly host our own events, we also cater for private and 3rd party events such as gigs, screenings, wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate bookings, seminars, and much more.

Salary. £31K-£33.5K

Start Date. From January 2026

Reports to. Business Owner

Responsible for: Front of House team, Supervisors, casual staff. The Head Chef and their kitchen team.

We are looking for a General Manager who is experienced, determined entrepreneurial, and self-motivated to join us at Archive. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring that all departments are running smoothly and efficiently and uphold the high standards of the business. The General Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase sales, events, and deliver excellent customer service, whilst maintaining a positive work environment. The General Manager will be willing to lead by example, well organised and consistently looking for improvement and efficiencies.

They will have an ability to interact with external parties and be able to coordinate suppliers and event clients. They will work closely with the business owner and the management team to help deliver and grow our program of events.

Responsibilities and Essential Requirements

  • Compliance adherence, including EHO inspection scores.
  • Implement and oversee all service training across the hospitality team to ensure a consistent and high level of service standards are always achieved.
  • Deliver superior service to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer complaints, identify, and implement appropriate actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve quality, productivity, and development.
  • Ensure standards are maintained and during busy periods that workflows are kept efficient and calmly executed.
  • Follow, implement, and maintain operational procedures. Implement and manage any new procedure, policies or systems as instructed by the owner.
  • Service control – making sure procedures are adhered to in line with company policy ensuring a professional manner from all staff is always demonstrated.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with all other managers in the company.
  • Meet all financial and performance targets as set out and agreed including revenue, gross profit margins, wage margins and net profit margins.
  • Commercially astute and confident in understanding P&L reports.
  • Develop new product ideas that will boost sales and/or enhance the customer experience.
  • To be a keyholder and manage the opening, locking up and alarming of the venue.
  • Identify opportunities and suggest strategies to drive sales.
  • Ensure labour costs, consumable spend and margins on food/drink is compliant with business expectations.
  • Maintain awareness of the local marketplace and competitors
  • Ensure a high-quality environment is maintained through both cleanliness and timely repairs.
  • Oversight and management of events in situations where the Sales & Events Manager is unavailable.
  • Event management experience is desirable but not essential
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety and Food Safety, highlighting any immediate or on-going risk and taking appropriate action.
  • Personal License Holder
  • Ability to work flexible hours including, weekends and evenings.
  • Experience of working behind a bar and able to work shifts if required.
  • Minimum of 2 Years of DGM/GM experience required
