Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and highly motivated Community Engagement Officer to play a pivotal role in some of the most exciting regeneration and investment programmes currently underway across the region. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of major projects including the Belfast Region City Deal, Destination Royal Hillsborough, and the redevelopment of the Dundonald International Ice Bowl. You'll help ensure local people, businesses, community groups, and key stakeholders are informed, engaged, and empowered throughout every stage of these landmark initiatives.
The Role
As Community Engagement Officer, you will be the key link between the Council, communities, businesses, elected representatives, and project partners. You will design and deliver innovative engagement programmes that build awareness, encourage participation, and foster positive relationships across a wide range of audiences. You will work collaboratively across Council departments and external organisations to ensure engagement activities are inclusive, effective, and responsive to local needs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and delivering comprehensive community engagement plans for major Council projects.
- Creating meaningful opportunities for residents, businesses, and community organisations to engage with transformational programmes.
- Acting as a primary point of contact for stakeholder enquiries and community feedback.
- Building strong partnerships with internal teams, external agencies, community groups, and elected members.
- Coordinating outreach activities, events, consultations, and engagement campaigns.
- Working closely with communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging across multiple channels.
- Maintaining accurate records, engagement data, and stakeholder databases.
- Preparing reports and updates for senior management and Council committees.
- Supporting the delivery of projects that generate lasting social and economic impact.
