About the Role

As an HR Business Partner, you'll work closely with managers and senior leaders across designated Council departments, providing expert advice and guidance across the full employee lifecycle. No two days will be the same. From supporting complex employee relations matters and advising on employment legislation to leading recruitment processes, developing managers and driving continuous improvement, you'll play a key role in delivering a modern, responsive and professional HR service. This is a highly influential position where your ability to build relationships, provide sound judgement and deliver commercially balanced HR solutions will directly contribute to organisational success.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partner with managers to provide expert advice across a wide range of HR and employee relations matters.
  • Lead and support complex casework including disciplinary, grievance, dignity at work, attendance management and capability.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders, managers and trade union representatives.
  • Support recruitment and selection activities, including chairing interview panels and advising on best practice.
  • Work collaboratively to develop practical HR solutions that promote engagement, wellbeing and positive workplace cultures.
  • Analyse HR data and prepare reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Support organisational change, workforce planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to HR strategy, policy development and service improvement projects.
  • Represent the Council professionally at Employment Tribunals and other formal proceedings where required.
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of the employee experience.
